Hi I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Levi and I am in East Bay. I mostly do hobby ethnobotany and non-profit garden education. My main focuses are the Fynbos/Karoo regions of South Africa, Adelaide/Perth regions of Australia, and upcountry Ethiopia.
Currently researching on spices, herbs, and other flavorings (Buchu, Lemon Myrtle, Corrima, etc...) but also interested in more Mediterranean climate appropriate design focused on Palms and fodder shrubs using little irrigation.
Thanks for reading, I hope to exchange a lot of ideas on this forum!

Welcome Fynbos! I work with a range of Fynbos species as a cut flower supplier in the UK (Primarily Protea & Leucospermum with foliages), it is a fascinating region and I hope to visit with work this year!

That would be an amazing opportunity if your down there try and get some kukumakranka bulbs to grow, they have an amazing scent and can be used when made into an extract as a fruit flavor enhancer. Also it's nice to see that there is another young gardener on here, I am often the youngest person around (not including the children) when I go to workshops and such.

I will look out for it I truly take great pleasure from working with Fynbos, we are the only supplier in the UK who do what we do and are considered experts in our field which is wonderful! Mine and many others favourite is the King Protea, such a glorious flower. I have been a gardener since I was not many years old and was lucky enough to study it and find a job that pays the bills in a not unrelated field. My allotment is my passion though.

Yo! East Bay! You don't note the year of your birth, so I am also young (second childhood). We share a remarkable ecosystem, though I mostly farm in a more rigorous environment.

I am 20, your in East Bay as well? Awesome! I will hopefully be doing non-profit garden education soon with an org here. Do you know any places/ meetings to go to (I know about the ones in SF I was an instructor for a couple years at Hayes Valley Farm although it got shut down rather dramatically a couple weeks ago).

Yesterday, I first-time saw an urban garden "summer camp program" thingy, the name of which I didn't catch; it's on San Pablo, south of University, in Berkeley. Might be just what you're looking for.
