I think the forum is uncomfortably vulnerable but I would like to keep it here if a way could be found to have Alan or someone else get the full privilages back. I have no objection to moving or even starting again if it becomes necessary though.

I don't think the forum is very vulnerable at all. If proboards shut down this forum, given it's content, that causes concern by other customers and endangers their business model in much the same way as someone being able to export the complete forum and move it elsewhere. It is more likely that the forums shut down discussed unsavoury topics, like terrorism, drugs and the like.

A few days ago I read a story of a forum of doctors. The admin got a demand letter from a lawyer who said some material belonging to a client had been posted, and demanded it be removed. The admin didn't think the arguments given were strong enough, and didn't take any action. Apparently ProBoards got the same letter shortly after, and shut the forum down without any discussion or warning.

There have been other cases of people reposting threads elsewhere, and ProBoards shutting down the original forum after finding these.

While I think it's unlikely any immediate action would be taken, the contents of this forum does violate various laws in different parts of the world. In Europe it's not legal to trade or sell unregistered seeds. Someone could save some seeds of Monsanto GM corn and offer them here violating Monsanto's patent. These are not immediate or serious threats, but they are real.

Scraping the board and reposting it can be done by anyone. At any time someone could do this, upset ProBoards, and the forum could be shut down as a result.

Yes, Proboards is arbitrary. A while back I tried capturing the board and they blocked my IP saying that it looked like I was a Denial of Service attacker. Seeing how, I was a single IP that really seemed strange. What they didn't like was the scraping. It took some sweet talking on my part and a promise not to do it again or I would be blocked permanently.

So I think that it's valid to be concerned about the future of this site IF folks are concerned that unique content will be lost. If an event occurs, it might be too late to do anything.

I finally found a way to get my password to work sans my old email. Very short update for now, more to come...

Life us busy! Still planting, still breeding, took a break from "commercial" production and attempting to provide seeds to deal with my moms addiction issues and to "grow up" a bit myself.

I own a house, still farm, distill brandy legally and work in my community a lot.

Kim and I are getting married June 6 and we have a daughter on the way.

I am still a "dreamer" a "prepped" and a bit of a "rebel" and I still love this place!
