Oh, I long for winter. I want to clean my house, take out my sewing machine, make beer and think of spring (with RAIN). Deb, I love the quiet of snow, but I'm sorry you didn't get to finish. 3 weeks is too early. But really, is there ever enough time?

If you don't want it, send it to me!
I not only need the water, but the cold would help me get work done.
Oh, well; Nature's inequities are always with us.

That is disheartening! I had the same thing happen here last year. We got 2 inches of snow on May 3.

I can't remember the last time we got snow at the beginning of September. Next week would've been fine, after all our CSA boxes were done. Personally, I'm ready for sweater weather My garden wasn't though… spring was late and cool, took too long to warm the soil. There's always next year (with a greenhouse!). steev, I would gladly send some down to you if I could!

All our winter squash have been harvested. Snow and hard frost made sure of that… Zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, and beans are all done now too. Corn may have pulled through. By Sunday we're back up to +20C. I wish the weather would make up it's mind. We're pretty lucky up here in that there's hardly any rampant tomato diseases. Gotta keep an eye out for blight in tomatoes and potatoes, but that's about it. Fall berries are starting. 30min of picking yielded 6+lbs of Chokecherries

Very pretty, though I've no idea what they're good for, never having seen one up close and personal; prolly not grown within a 1000 miles of me.
I also don't have much tomato disease, except BER on some varieties.
This is the first year I've been plagued by hornworms. I think the Sphinx moths are beautiful, but I don't want their larvae looting my tomatoes. The more I'm on-site, the less they'll be tolerated.

steev We use chokecherries to make syrup or jelly. They have a seed in the middle and are sour, even when ripe. But in a good way! Can't eat them fresh, but make wonderful preserves.

Had a really hard frost a couple nights ago. Wiped out whatever tender veg managed to survived the snow. Most frost tolerant veg are doing ok still. Having our CSA season wrap-up Harvest Dinner this sunday. I still haven't figured out what I'm cooking for everyone yet. Every spring I can't wait to get going and by September I'm ready for a vacation lol Hopefully going camping+canoeing next weekend Here's some "measurements" of our largest sweetpotatoes. And some Isis Candy cherry tomatoes I found ripening on a shelf. Snow White "cherry" Tomatoes New veg for us this year, Non-GMO Sugar Beets and Black Turkish Carrots Carrot is still young. When mature it's "black" all the way through. This one is still white in the middle. Oh, and the grand total of chokecherries was 9 lbs. It's definitely a berry kind of year! Everything is looking large and plump.

Well that was inspiring as you definitely have a challenging climate . Good for you for having the energy to pull off a harvest dinner too.
