I think I'd like to build a website or maybe a forum like this to make my seed library more visible. Either way I go, I'll need to know what it's name will be. The name would also useful for informational materials, seed packets and signs. So I'm considering a few, and looking for opinions and suggestions. What do you guys think?
-Seed You Later -Sow What? -Plant it Forward -Need for Seed -Seedless -I Seed You -The Seedy Side of Town -Do You Seed What I Seed

Thinking internationally, word plays in English might exclude non native english speakers. Need for Seed is pretty clear. See what happens with google translate if you swap it into Hungarian and back again. Or Catalan, or Etruscan T

"DID you seed what I seed" is more grammatical, I think.
"Sow what" speaks to my punster.
"Plant it forward" appeals to my social consciousness; that's my pick.

My oldest says "Monkey Seed, Monkey Doo". (Un-subtle compost/ organic gardening plug is deliberate.)

I have a site Need 4 Seed, but it has the 4 instead of 'for'. I think there is a marijuana seed seller that uses need for seed in some form. You could also consider Seed Need. ...or Seed Nerd! I like Sow What?. The Plant it Forward suggests a mission. Will your list have a mission? Keep thinking! I like the play on words that you are working into it!

It's likely that I saw your site (or a mention of it) once, and partially remembered it. Anyway, now that I know, I will use something else. Bursting at the Seeds? Seeds like only yesterday? Just like Grandpa used to Rake?

I know you want to go with a "fun" name, but keep in mind that the simple and descriptive will probably get more hits from search engines... (why my blog has a very "boring" name.)

I know you want to go with a "fun" name, but keep in mind that the simple and descriptive will probably get more hits from search engines... (why my blog has a very "boring" name.) Doesn't have to be a pun. It was just my first thought. How about: - "oldmobie's Seed Stash"?
- "The Seed Ark"?
- "Diversity for Adversity Seed Library" (pun-ish)?
- "The Landrace Project"? (Landraces are my goal, but since anyone can borrow from/ swap with the library, I'm not sure it's focused enough on landracing to name it that.)
- "Local Seeds"?
- "Seeds Your Way"?
- "Hybrid Vigor Seed Library"?
- "Diversity by Design Seed Library"?
Assuming of course that the chosen name is available.

I like Diversity for Adversity Seed Library, and Diversity by Design Seed Library even better. It has "seed library" in the name, meaning if someone Googles "seed library", your site is more likely to show up. Landraces aren't well enough known, I don't think, to feature them in your title; besides, not everyone will be into them but a seed library should still be useful to people. "Hybrid vigor" is too suggestive of commercial f1 hybrids to me; besides, the number of people who just don't understand what a hybrid even is, is legion. The trouble with "local" when you are on the internet, is it doesn't say local to where.

Some general rules for web sites: Domain name should be short and easy to remember Should be relevant to the subject matter. Diversity by Design for example might be more appropriate to architecture or something and probably not associative with seeds by search algorithms even if seeds is included with it. Should be able to seamlessly use it or variations of it here and there throughout the text of the site Should be as dissimilar as possible to established competitors (in the sense of competing for search engine hits)
Don't start by thinking of the name but rather by thinking to yourself what search terms you might use if you were looking for the subject matter you have in mind. Test them out and see what you hit. Work one or two (of those) that hit the right kinds of things into your domain name. Finding a good domain name is really really hard because so many are already taken but don't give up. Once you have (the one) short, relevant and you like it, use it as a search term and see if it hits appropriately similar subject matter, if so then check availability and unfortunately be prepared to start over.
