I'm not sure if it is Brown or Monroe county but near Lake Monroe in Indiana there is a road called Ramp Creek Rd. Most people think it is called that because it has a boat ramp but it was called that long before the lake was even there. You could probably gather seed or starts there if you know when and how to go about it. Reed, you ever hear of anyone digging ramps in your neck of the woods? No, I'v never heard of them here but they are fairly plentiful up there.

We also inoculated the bed with Stropharia rugosoannulata.
Was this strictly double cropping, or have these been shown to be beneficial to one another, ramps and wine caps? What we were trying to do was create a forest floor for the winecaps. Then I decided to add the ramps rather than build another forest floor raised bed. If they both thrive, then we'll know they play well together. If one or the other or both fail, then we won't know anything more than the fact that they failed. We'll probably build more forest floor raised beds for fiddleheads and ramps separately. There's a good series on forest farming ramps - www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%22forest+farming%22+ramps

Our most common allium - ramsons grow abundantly along rivers here in spring. Damp Woodlands in the spring and summer have a strong onion smell to them. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allium_ursinum

Shame on me, I had forgotten about this thread. Update: my ramp seeds have gone missing in action for over three months now. A three year old and/or eighteen month old toddler(s) are persons of interest in connection with their disappearance. This seems to be their MO as per the recent disappearance of the Netflix remote for three weeks before it's recovery from behind the refrigerator.

I sowed ramsons in a boggy area by a gutter pipe and they seem to like it alright. I'm hoping they'll spread.

Never give a 3 year old your remote, your car keys, or the telephone....I think you should have to post a photo of the suspects.
Bog? Bog? There's bog left in the world? Wet? Rain? sigh.

....I think you should have to post a photo of the suspects..... Yes, of course. I consider it my duty to pass along as much info as possible concerning these two suspects in the event that others should come in contact with them and be caught unawares by their criminal behaviors.
From L to R suspects names are Savannah (aka 'Nina') and Reese. The two are known to disguise themselves as royalty such as 'princesses', and even recently as gymnasts or ballerinas:
'Nina', who is suspected to be the primary perpetrator, often seeks refuge from prosecution under the protection of 'Maw':

'Maw' had to buy herself another hairbrush. Reese was 'brushing' Maw's hair with her favorite brush weekend before last and it hasn't been seen since. Amazing how things disappear with these two. These are grandkids, I don't remember our kids causing things to disappear like this.

They're certainly attractive kids, but that meal-time photo makes them look like "hardened" criminals.

Don't Confuse Your Ramsons With Ramps
"...It appears that there is confusion between ramsons and ramps. Ramsons (Allium ursinum), also called "bear's garlic," are indigenous to Europe and Asia, and wild populations are not found in the U.S. Ramps (Allium tricocca) are native to the U.S. and are found in the wild from the mountainous mid-Atlantic states northward...."

Joined in an egg hunt on a perfect sunny Easter Day in some local woods near Edinburgh. Lots of happy kids & families on the trail seeking eggs. What do I come home with; a clump of wild garlic to transplant to a shady spot in my garden! This will be the European type, ramson? I have always called it wild garlic. It is in full leaf now & white flowers are just about to open. Seems to spread readily in broadleaf woodland sharing the ground with bluebells. Only a feint garlic smell in the air, sometimes the smell is unmissable, could have been when it was first coming up or perhaps smell strengthens during flowering, will try & note this. I have used it in a soup in the past. I imagine after a hard winter it was a welcome addition to the broth pot of dried peas or beans together with nettle shoots. I think the onion flavour is lost a bit by cooking so could be best to throw in at end of boil. Chewing a raw leaf leaves a distinct onion / garlic flavour which lingers, quite pleasant & a soft leaf, good salading with other pickings I should think. Just need to shake the earth out of my man bag now.
