Hello! My name is Matilde and I'm writing from the hills Tuscany, Italy. I'm keen on heirlooms, especially tomatoes and peppers, and my collection includes some local rarities which I'm very proud of. This does not mean that I'm not in search for new things! In fact, every day I get more curious and fascinated about the diversity of plants, especially food crops. And I sure love to "wow" my friends with new things for dinner I also do taste tests and reviews about hot peppers: that's really a lot of fun to me, but I prefer that people will continue to thinks it's actually a job ehehe I've come across this forum in desperate search for Astronomy Domine sweet corn after reading about it by accident, but I fell in love with all the information and the vastity of interests this Forum covers. That's why I registered almost immediately ehehe.. Hope to share lots of garden experiences with you all, trade seeds and learn a lot! Have a nice day ^_^ Matilde

Welcome from the other side of the pond! (The Atlantic pond, not the Mediterranean.) Beautiful peppers, can't wait to hear more from you.

Yes! or at least it is for those who like to search for new things ehehe Here only flour corn is very popular (we are "polenta" people) and not much fresh corn is sold.. but my love for sweet corn is equal to that in the US I think part of my field is just for sweet corn, It's always a treat to have it in my meals! And I love coloured vegetables.. tomatoes, pumpkin, beans, zucchini, rainbow chard..

I thought flint corn was for polenta, while flour corn is for baking?

I don't really know; there is no such thing like "flint corn" and "flour corn" here in Italy. In fact, we don't even have distinctions between su, se and the other types of sweet corns, or ornamental corns alike. We just have packed polenta flour and sometimes raw corns to boil.. quite sad, in fact!

Hi Laelia, I grow Italian and Spanish Vegetables...and some AD. But here I am ever searching for the best polenta corn. Maybe we can trade. I grew a good sweet corn last year from NZ. It's black!

Black when still "sweet"?

Yes, it's called Kanga Pango. (Black corn?) It's a sweet corn, it's great parched. It was good in soup, it ground well and made tasty muffins. As I noted in my review, a nice tight wrapper, it tillers, so no blow down. Steev this might be a good corn for you. It survived the drought with only one watering a week. If I didn't grind some for you when you were here, shame on me. I'll catch up with you soon. I finally got a note from dear Cesar at the Wellington Seed Library who filled me in that it was a sweet corn. Zack was right!
