The limas I seeded had only ~20% germination, by variety, and those few were not very vigorous.
Jo: have you tried cowpeas/long-beans? They're much more productive, for me, than vulgaris or lunatus.
I've no idea of your potential humidity issues, but in my dry environment, tepary, urd, and mat beans do well; granted, they're all dry beans, not shelly or green beans, although maybe, if you trouble yourself.
