Haha, yep I understand about any volunteers being from the poorest melons left in field. Gotta admire the effort to survive, but the farmer should be saving the best seed so that is what should be grown.
I hope this is a good watermelon season. The main patch seed is actually two years old, so I did not plant the best seed from last year.
But I got some seed for those russian watermelons that store 3-4 months that I suspect have citron ancestry and mixed the seed in with the citron hybrids. So I'm sorta excited to see how the citron patches do.
