I found this weed in my landscaping by the house. I pulled it a few weeks ago without really looking at it. We worked on the front of the house yesterday and I found it all dried up but with berries? http://instagram.com/p/6S8BmOip1Z http://instagram.com/p/6S8AW7Cp1W http://instagram.com/p/6S7_iKCp1T I thought it was bindweed when it pulled it and didn't take a close look at it. I do remember that it had similar flowers to bindweed. Now it has berries that look like tomatoes. Also has thorns on stem and leaves.

'horse nettle' Solanum carolinense
it's a perennial with a big fleshy root, so it'll probably be back. the flower is less like bindweed than like a potato flower.

I found a living plant in the field. http://instagram.com/p/6TkuFZCpyR I think it is horse nettle after a search for it. The only thing I could find before is S. aculeastissimum but it is only in warmer climates.

The berries/fruit look just like potato berries. Interesting. I wonder how close it is genetically.

It is a nightshade. From what I have read it is toxic though
