I have stored Moschatas over 12 months after picking and they were fine. I do find they tend to dry out a bit and the flesh becomes a bit fibrous/stringy (like spagetti squash) - but a quick pass through a blender takes care of that.

four months and a day We harvest in October, start eating in November and by March the seeds are starting to sprout in their cavities. By February, the onions and garlic are sprouting and the sweet potatoes have to be gobbled or they are lost. Luckily by March there's always greens a plenty, new carrots and new beets. Now to get the rest of this stuff planted. Many of my family in Minnesota say they have squash from one season to another, but I think the warmth and spring rain here makes everything want to senesce.

I like to start eating them in December. They are great for a long time. I plant around mid April, pick them around September.
