This one is presumably a cross between Sharlyn and Painted Serpent (Armenian) cucumber. The seeds came out of a Sharlyn melon I purchased last year from a local farm that was also growing Painted Serpent. The photo is nearly a month old, but the melon is still not ripe yet. I'm excited to see what it tastes like! The first few fruits to set on that plant got eaten by rats while immature. Most of the Sharlyn descendants in my patch are throwing Sharlyn types, but two plants look like this. I'll definitely be saving seed from these, and probably growing more from the original batch next year, but I'm not really sure how they will fit into my melon breeding. This year I'm just trialing a bunch of different stuff to decide what I like, and the melon/cuke in the photo may have been pollinated by any number of things. I imagine I'll have plenty of seed to share -- if anyone is interested.

Hi Mike, I've been a bit remiss in my plant sowing this season, study commitments have overwhelmed my gardening the last few months. But I'm now reminded of seeds lurking in the fridge. Feel obligated to pull em out, now. T
