Well, after being MIA for a while, I'm back-ish. The garden is going okay. The termite guy said to it "keep an eye out" around the house foundation as there's no evidence that they are near the house. He seems to think they will just stay away from the house...not sure why he thinks that, but he's the expert and other than spot treatment, there's not much he can do unless they get around the house. P.S., cardboard as a base for layered beds not advisable since they loooooove cardboard. On the up side, my strawberries are coming into fruit and one of my two rhubarbs has made it to a large, grand plant. The other got a disease and died. The tree collards are happily in the ground and thriving. I was so nervous about them rooting after reading so many failure stories on the net. But they are all doing well in their new homes. I've stolen some plantain weeds from the yard and transplanted them to their own place to see how they thrive or not. All the purple asparagus are up (they are babies, so they're spindly and delicate, but in a few years, they will be great)! My fiddle head ferns are thriving in the darkest, barest part of my property, I am happy to say. I lost my sea kale seedling, but the perrenial kale seedlings from trixtrax 's seed breeding are all quite healthy and so happy! My apple trees are struggling with am aphid infestation and I'm going to treat with some neem if it will ever stop raining long enough. And, we just finished edging the front beds in rocks instead of old tree branches. It looks sharp! All in all, things are going well. I need to go take pictures, but I am so lazy about that.
