When I am in gardening mode, I like to do a lot of reading. What are your other favorite vegetable gardening sites that you would be willing to share? And if willing, why do you like them. Anything with good information or informative people would be helpful. Blogs/glogs, seed sellers, forums, extension publications, etc.
Thanks.

I look at a few. One of my favourites is the Agriculrural Biodiversity Weblog: agro.biodiver.se/

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll check them out.
Yes, I do like figs and have some. They do well in my Mediterranean climate. There used to be some good discussions on GardenWeb, but it had its flaws. And when Houzz took that over it went south quickly. Not sure it's recovered yet.

And when Houzz took that over it went south quickly. Not sure it's recovered yet. The Houzz site is so poorly designed that does not seem likely. Quite a loss.

Not sure if it would apply to many here but a FB group Hardy Fruit and Nut Trees of Alberta. At least one of the members there has been working with fruit trees for years and is a huge resource of information, I often wish the setup was similar to this group rather than the linear format of FB. Other than that, they are similar in usefulness and "feel".
They don't limit membership to Alberta people but that's the focus, obviously. Very useful for those of us in cold climate parts of Canada.

I like old world garden farm's blog as well as mother of a Hubbard. Mother of a Hubbard hasn't been doing much lately though. I'm also on here and tomatoville almost daily.

That seems to be a nice site too. But alas, not very active either. Not sure why some of the better gardening/growing sites don't seem to have that many discussions this spring.

Facebook has turned most forums into ghost towns. It's unfortunate, but people go where the discussion is and there is more of it on Facebook due to the lower barrier to participation.

I tend to stay away from facebook groups myself, but there probably are some good garden groups on there. I have also noticed all garden forums going south lately too. This is really the only good one left in my opinion. The tomato centric forums seem to still have lots of people, but i'll be honest in saying that a forum that is 90% dedicated to one crop seems weird to me. Despite the weird vibes i get from them sometimes i've started to visit them a little more and am venturing into tomato growing this year. Still one has be careful to not step on anyone's toes in those places or you may inadvertently see the "tomato nazis" show themselves. (no offense intended to anyone who may be lurking about). Having said that, there are plenty of nice people on there with lots of knowledge and willing to share seeds. So a big thank you to all those people. Most of the good gardening places i visit these days tend to be random blogs. I will do my best to try and track them down and post them here. As has already been mentioned though is agro.biodiver.se ,which i second as a fantastic plant breeding news outlet.

Not to offend anyone, but to me FB groups seem pretty superficial in their information and coverage. Selected blogs are better but sort of one sided, and the person writing them can run out of steam. Much better content here
