Of course, there are always bugs to work out, but I'm sure the tech geniuses can work them out or wear themselves out trying; either way, a win-win, eh?
I think replace water-blades with enormous solar-panel-blades, rowing against the solar wind for added "oomph" (I knew somebody would bring up the vacuum thing, but that's quibbling over nearly nothing), a burly guy with a big drum (necessitating adjustments to compensate for the repeated impacts), and a motivational speaker, "We keep you alive to serve the ship; so row, Judah Ben-Hur, and live!", or words to that effect.
It could be really HUGE, believe me!
