I've been watching "The Ranch", which I greatly enjoy, and it struck me: there are no (to my knowledge) songs about gardening. Granted, there is no tradition of gardeners riding around singing to their crops, nor of their "ladies of the night" (the farmers may have been too less-transient), but WTF! Are bars in agricultural areas really supposed to be dominated by Tex-Mex, Mariachi, and Country music?
Where are the praises and anthems of raising peas, rutabagas, or even corn?
Really, can't somebody come up with something along the lines of "Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be gardeners"; you know, something that will make it sound edgy and cool. not what only the Grams do?
I realize it's not Willy Nelson's bag, but is there nobody who could carry this off? Seems a wide-open field, full of "plowing" metaphors, maybe something about realtors and CPAs; ought to appeal to the young, if "couched" appropriately.

'Kay; I must look those up, but I think I'm looking for something along the lines of "I'm a compost-kicking, seed-flicking, produce-picking kind of guy".
I mean, if it don't dance, it won't last.
Granted, we don't have stampedes and rustling, but what about finger blight?
We've come so far since Woody; not necessarily in the right direction.

Some women are just crazy about heavy metal.
I have a BCS 732 walk-behind tractor; isn't that at least marginally attractive? Kind of like closing time at the bar, ya know?

Oh man, I haven't heard the Arrogant Worms since, oh, Stan Rogers Festival 2001. Good memories. On a similar theme is Tool's Disgustipated. The intro is long but worth it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOvwc8_QXiY

This was always my favorite track of theirs. Among other things it has basically gotten me out of a LIFETIME of babysitting (I once threatened to sing it to any kids my sister had if she ever had them, and she swore that, if she did she'd NEVER let me watch them.) I actually DID send it to a cousin who just had a baby, but he is of my mind and thinks it's hilarious He probably DOES sing it to the kid in the wee hours of the morning to their mutual benefit she's too young to understand the words and will just like the melody, and he gets a bit of catharsis. link

It is remarkable that any parents stay sane enough to rear children; I think the strain explains the common use of indoctrination: "You're constantly watched by an authority that will condemn you to Eternal Damnation if you don't behave".
