Did you ever cut your citron / watermelons open?

Not yet; I'll let you know when I do, and post pictures.

Moschata squash continue to turn odd, purple/dark brown colors. On the more seriously affected ones, the skin is taking on a rough, wrinkled, or even powdery feel. Most are still firm and solid to the touch. Other squash are completely unaffected, even when in contact with the odd ones. One has started to go soft.
In the next few days I'll start opening them up. Even if the problem is merely cosmetic I won't save seeds from those ones. And I think it will probably shorten their storage life, if indeed it has not damaged them already.
I have seen a few from the store that have similar colors and textures in small patches; they seem edible, but the flesh is a bit stained in that general area.
I'd like to grow enough squash to feed the family through the winter, and I doubt the affected ones would make it.
