So, it might be a little early, hard to say, but i think tentatively it's time to name this pea. Especially considering it seems to have turned into a purple snap type (which was unexpected), though since the seeds were barrel shaped i guess this should have tipped me off. But since i thought that neither parent variety used has snap pods i am a bit flabbergasted. Perhaps i used Sugar Magnolia as a parent and just didn't pay much attention, but i'mm pretty sure the F1 did not have purple pods last year, so that also confuses me, but things got so jumbled maybe they did. In any case, a purple snap with deep purple seeds that remain true certainly probably deserves a name despite my messy crosses and perhaps mistake. Haha, even mistakes can have good outcomes. Happy Mistakes. Like "Happy little trees" (Bob Ross reference). lol. Anyway, so i'm thinking that since this was bred from 'Purple Passion' i could do a play on words and use the letter V instead for violet instead of purple. I guess technically they are different colors, especially in other languages other than English, but whatever. Also the JIC gene reference refers to "violet testa" so the JIC is already using violet rather than purple for this gene i think. I also could ursurp the name 'purple passion' and use that since the original description said purple passion was supposed to have purple pods (which it did not when i got it), but since i already have shared some seed of purple passion with others that does not seem that great an idea. So here are the names i thought of. Let me know what you think.

Okay, so it has the same two meanings like in german I am not a native english speaker. What I was looking for was an english word for german "Schemel" something like that.

I have a hard time speaking only one language at a time, not to imply that I have much of a grasp of any except English; it's just that my RAM gets more random every day; when I studied Mandarin, if the teach asked me a question, the answer was more likely to come to me in French (foreign language, right?; close enough for government work?)

I like purple rather than violet, If I saw those growing I would think to myself what pretty purple they are, so that's what I'd call em. Pretty Purple Peas.

I just received seeds of "Purple Passion Hybrids" from Andrew, which suggests that no name has been decided upon.
Or are these different hybrids?

Unfortunately they reverted in the last generation to greenish seeds with no purple! I am hoping the purple color will return upon growing them out again.

Any luck on any of the peas having the purple color again keen101? Going off of memory, I'm pretty sure only the outside of the pod was purple on the Sugar Magnolia snap peas.

wow, i was so excited to see pea content here again. i've not checked back in some time...
Purple Plug would be my choice.
sometimes plans don't work out. i've had some of those myself, get excited by seeing a new bean show up in the new crosses and then replanting it gives you dozens of other types and perhaps not the ones you are really excited about.
