I want to grow Solanum arcanum. Has anyone tried this species yet? There are instructions on the TGRC website.https://tgrc.ucdavis.edu/spprecommed.aspx
├─ L. peruvianum
mostly year round
or facultative (SC)
5 per 1 gal pot
Bleach seed for 30 minutes
These instructions seem pretty straightforward. Lumped with peruvianum for cultivation which several of us myself included already grow. Suggest planting seeds in June, I think based on my experience with peruvianum that I will sow earlier probably february or March. For pot culture five plants can fit in just one one-gallon pot. So ten one gallon pots could hold a population. Blooms year round. Need 50 to 75 plants in the population to maintain genetics. They say to bleach the seeds, I think I will follow that for the first generation. TGRC uses a "regular" potting mix for these.
Doing way less well than Peruvianum seedlings that have adapted themselves to the Rocky Mountain West in our gardens. So far. Quite a few seedlings though of both accessions so I still have some hope. Just need a few seeds.
Harvested a dozen arcanum berries last weekend. Letting them ripen more and perhaps accumulate more before fermenting them. Only one accession so far. The other accession the peruvianum and the Lone chilense may have contributed pollen. Will see.
