The borloti bean was a miss this year.He was too attacked vy the slugs. The alone plant of the harvest has did 1 pod without seeds. It just stay 2 seeds of borlotti bean for tryes to duplicate these under my growlight.
I will try to create my own bean crossbreeding with this two varietys. I want a bean mid climbing with more tall rod diameter and able to did ramifications most easily for increasse the slugs attacks resistance. i'm not understanding what you wrote there in total, but i think i get it. i hope a cross will work out for you. i'm temporarily taking a break from gardening for some days while my back recovers from a slight injury. i'd rather not make it worse so i figure i will give it a break until after our Thanksgiving Holiday and then i'll see what the weather does as to how much i can get back outside before the ground freezes. some winter's are milder than others. at least i did get the garlic planted. i have plenty of lighter duty tasks that i can work on inside anyways so this isn't a major block in productivity it just means i'm doing things in a bit different order than usual.

we did finish putting up most of the gardens today, i was wondering if the weather was going to give us enough breaks to get back outside before the ground freezes up. it had snowed earlier in the week but then we had some warm and windy enough days to melt the snow and to thaw out the ground. i am glad we could get this done before winter as then it gives me an easier chance of working on some projects next spring and also keeping up with the light weeding that always needs to be done.

put up the first version of the squash project page: www.anthive.com/project/squash/still doing a lot of cleaning and reorganizing. making progress slowly but surely. today i'm also trying to get my bean project page redone, but i think it's now turned into a much larger project because i want to get all my records updated and put in one place and that would be the best place to do it. it's a good thing it's winter.

pretty quiet here lately, mostly the usual late winter stuff and trying to get some things done before spring arrives and also trying to put a bit more energy into a local gardening group that meets at the library once a month. first meeting was this month. we'll see how it goes. it's good for me to be a bit more social - i'm way too easily set in hermit ways. i've spent some time winnowing down the bean collection. sad to see them go, but i don't have the space or time to refresh all of them and way too many more more interesting beans to try out. also working on trying to get my website bean pages into better shape. still working on them, it may take me another year to really figure out what i'm doing there... we'll see how it goes.

the killdeer have returned again, but this year they've chosen the gardens out front for their nesting site so i'm not sure yet if this pair of birds is the more tame ones that we've normally had nest in the back gardens or if this is a younger pair that has nested out front before. i won't know until i get more gardening done out front to see how much noise these make.

another pair of killdeer put a nest in the back fenced gardens but at least they have put the nest up high and out of the way instead of putting it in a pathway. that makes things much easier for us. in the north garden there are plenty of daffodils coming out the past few days. most of these in this picture are all the same so they could mostly be given away as i do need to move a bunch more from up higher in the garden.

have to start them in a big enough pot that they can stay in there until they set pods. if you put a flat piece of copper foil standing up around the outer part of the soil of the pot the slugs may not get in there at all.

eggs hatched the past few days. eight little peepers and four anxious parents running around today. i was able to finally get a better close up picture and i've been trying many years to get one this close at this stage of youth: the daffodils are coming along and they look much nicer with some sunshine on them and a bit closer picture: and i finished my onion project page, or at least the first few drafts of it: www.anthive.com/project/onions/

it has been a busy past few weeks trying to get gardens ready for planting, various holidays and family events and whatever else has been going on. still it is coming along. we're almost done weeding all the fenced gardens and i've gotten a good start on the gardens outside the fences too. the weather has been warm and today is back to more normal cooler temperatures. all good. we did get some well-needed rains. i've also gotten some peas planted and an initial small row of beans. with it being still early that there might be some frosts these may not make it, but worth a risk for a few minutes of time and some seeds (which i have plenty). this moring was morel mushroom time, i'll leave this mushroom alone so it can drop spores all over the place, there's a lot of area downhill from it so no big reason to pick it, but it is along the edge of a pathway so we have to walk around it for a while. walking around it is also a good way to spread spores.

You're lucky, you don't have drought at least. At a few placements in france in was not rain since 35 days.
