It has been a hot and dry summer; we were way above average for days above 90f and are now in a drought ranging from severe to extreme.
Due to watering often though, the gardens are flourishing, the best they have been in some years.

we have today and tomorrow forecast to be very warm and humid still, then Monday we start to moderate again and then after that we have at least three days of 80-81F in the forecast. in the meantime we get our garden chores done early and that is all we can do for the day unless there is some emergency or quick task we can get done.

we'll still have some warmer days in the forecast but now scattered here or there in the week and not for many days at a time. sunny today, rains tomorrow... have to get some beans picked while they're dry and ready to come in. most of the dry bean harvest is in and by the end of the day i should have 80% of it done. rest will just trickle in as they finish.

a lot more rain than we really needed, including several rounds of hail storms. the ground and gardens are pretty saturated. i had picked through most of the dry beans so now the next round is getting dried out by today's sunshine and breezes. i have some squash to pick and harvest green seeds from and so that will be for today. tomorrow we'll either mow or i can see if any beans are dry enough to bring in. the temperatures are getting warmer than i'd like for doing heavy work but that is ok - it will be cold enough soon enough as it is...
