This is driving me crazy and I hope someone here can help.
We have a keypad garage door opener (battery powered, not wired) that is affixed to the wooden frame outside our garage and it opens the garage door by sending a signal.
Over the past year, we noticed that the keypad wasn't working well. I would punch in the combination and it wouldn't open the first few times. On the third or fourth time it would open.
We started with the obvious and replaced the battery, and no dice, we still had the same issue.
We then replaced the keypad, and it seemed like it was working. But over the next few weeks it became less and less reliable and eventually stopped working all together. We replaced that one with a 2nd new keypad, thinking that we had maybe bought a dud. Same issues.
So the obvious answer is that something in the wall is blocking the signal. When we remove the keypad from the wall it works great, so maybe it's an issue with signal strength. However, I went above the garage and the signal was able to penetrate a foot or so of cement and open the garage. And not only that, it would open it on the first try.

We also tried switch the wall it was attached to, and moved it from the left to the right wall, and still had the same issues.
Another weird aspect of the issue is that when we first attach it to the wall it seems to work fine, but then it gets worse over time.
I have no more ideas on what to do or what to try. If it was purely a signal strength issue, it seems like it shouldn't work when I'm literally above the garage with much worse LOS than on the frame outside the garage.
At this point my only answer is that the wooden frame of my garage door is kryptonite to any and all openers.
Any ideas or leads to follow would be greatly appreciated.
