Nice you two
Is it just me or does Lucokvitch make Obama to look an awful lot like a Vulcan (though in my mind having a Vulcan POTUS right now would not be a bad thing at all)

I was thinking that too! At first I thought it might be a cartoon about Spock. It took a moment for it to click.

I was thinking Tuvock, not Spock.
But anyway one slices it I am happy that Obama has been elected as I feel the man is destined to do great things for our small blue marble

Personally, I don't find that second one funny at all.

I'll just say I'm happy that there's change in the air.

I guess I posted the second one because it said more to me what Johno just said, that change was in the air. In my mind the race issue was not really the point, but I can understand why some might think it was in bad taste. Sorry if I offended anyone! I can delete it if you like...
I didn't particularly think the first one was funny! To me that was just political commentary.

Patrick, please don't delete it. I just happen to find all negative racial commentary tasteless. And at least in my (and others who I showed it to) opinion the cartoon was negatively racist. Cheers, Val aka grungy

When we learn not to become offended at every joke or comment - different races of people may actually become able to live together peacefully.
I can pick - joke and kid around with people I like and who also like me to no end without worry of offending anyone.
I didn't see anyone offended when Bush was pictured as a drunk un-educated Texan for eight years, Bush seemed to roll with the punches and take it all in stride.
Like it or not Obama will have to take his share of criticism too and it may be the very thing that helps him fit in and show he can take it with the best of them.

glad you posted and didn't delete yours patrick. i found it amusing and appropo for the theme of change, like johno said.
the first one i posted was heartfelt. after all of our rights that have been taken away from us during the present administration, i thought it was idealic, Obama putting our Constitution back into play... hope it all works.

I find it very tasteful Grungy. It says it all, it took hundreds of years for the White House not to be a ''white'' house.
And even if it came from a racist son of a bitch cartoonist, »I would love it more and say to myself ''Up yours bastard''. Here is a revenge on ass....like you.

Okay, knowing the cartoonist has a reputation of being racist changes my perception of the cartoon.
Otherwise, I would think someone would have to really to go a lot of trouble to read into it to find something racist. There are a lot more racist places in the world besides the US, and I've really seen a lot worse.

I have a weird sense of humour. I'm asking nicely that we don't get into a whole big thread on race. Please. We have members from all over the world and many different races. I don't want anyone to feel offended.
