Sweet painted hills By orflo, shot with DiMAGE A2 at 2008-11-13 Amish purple By orflo, shot with DiMAGE A2 at 2008-11-13 I'm not really a corn specialist, but I received some seeds from a friend this spring, I grew them out (I did sow them really too late), and to my surprise I did get a few ripe corn stalks. Both of them look nice, they didn't really get big, and the amish purple had a bad pollination, only half of the kernels developed. But, all in all, a colourful addition to the garden.... I saw some pictures of the red miracle corn on the net, this amish purple really looks similar (this picture doesn't do justice to the colours). My friend did indicate a medicinal use for this one on the packet, I have to ask him what it really is used for....

Mushrooms Martian Purple/double red/miracle red is traveling around under a number of different names at the moment, all are the same strain though and that definitely looks like what you have there. A very good corn, twice the anthocyanin of blueberries. Purple corns are traditionally used as macrobiotics in healing traditions, particularly Kculli corn which is used to make Chicha Morada, though at full maturity Alan Kapulers corn does make a nice substitute.
