I recently read about the Ein Dor melon, an Israeli variety that has a banana-like taste. Melons are about 2.5 - 3 lbs. I'd really like to try it, but am wondering if this is too big to grow in a container. If not, how big a container would I need? Has anyone grown this variety before? I think it's a fairly rare melon so there isn't a lot of info available on how to grow it.

You will see plenty of descriptions like that, banana like flavor, pineapple flavor etc... and they usually taste like...melon.
The fruity overtones of melon can always be qualified using another fruit, in the same fashion wines have ''cherry or caramel notes'' etc... but they are still wines.
In a large container, you could grow any melon, but you are better to stay with the bush ones. You have to control the vines, which can be quite long in a regular melon.
