Seems everything I planted this year has come in early. Thought I never was gonna get my garden planted because of all the rain we had in March thru May. Basically planted and tilled and weeded in the mud til June, then it turned off dry and heat indexes down here was over 100 for a couple of weeks and everything got ripe at once. July has been wet and cool. Temps in the 70 and 80's. That is not normal for here. Anyway got my first canteloupe yesterday. I have 2 hills of them and have over 20 canteloupes out there to get ripe. I have 6 hills of butternuts and started gathering them yesterday.

Does anyone else here, wish they could crawl through the internet and sample all these glorious fruits and vegetables? Looks great! And thank you for saving the seeds. All the time ;D I was disappointed this morning when I went to check on my canteloupes. The first chance I have had in a couple of days because of all the rain here. The racoons or groundhogs don't know which found my canteloupe patch and decided they liked them and pawed and ate a huge hunk out of every one but 5 of them I went ahead and pulled those 5 brought them to the house. I don't know if they will finish getting ripe or not. I have nothing against my critters around here but there is plenty other things they can eat besides my veges and fruit.

Save the seeds if the melons are near ripe, at least some should be mature enough. If you do the fermentation bit, the ripe one will drift to the bottom.
