Ate my first today. I grew it more as a novelty, but it has great flavor. It's not really very sweet, but has great real corn flavor. In fact, part of the reason I like it is that it's not overly sweet.

Hm! This year I ordered seeds from SSE member (member and here too) and planted them. I tasted only one cob and found it average. Obviously there is something wrong. I should plant and taste more next year.

............What is the relationship between sweet double red and red miracle? i remember reading this in the 'comments' from rebsie's site on Red Miracle Corn... daughterofthesoil.blogspot.com/2008/11/sweetcorn-2008.html"For an old hippie peacenik organic kinship gardener, your article about Red Miracle SC lit up my heart. I thought of your article while answering the interview questions. The original v.drk.ppl.seeds came inadvertently from probably True Platinum x any one of 4 Hopi starch corns. A few dark red-purple crinkle seeds led to Martian Red which from crosses with Ruby Queen gave Double Red. The Red Miracle you grew was F3.............."

Is Double Red red when at fresh eating stage? Or does the colour only develop as it begins to dry down?

That's nice. It's disappointing that so many corns don't show their true colors until they;re past the "eating" stage.

Hi André your corn are a little ahead of mine. Normal Yes even if these are your seeds, south of France is warmer than Belgium ;-) Its depends also on sowing date. Mine was sown on may 10.

Andre, beautiful crop. It is good to know Double Red tastes good, in addition to being so pretty (grew it for my granddaughter). The plants are coming along, the tassels are just starting to shoot upwards of the leaves, planted very late, June 20, in central California. We will see what happens.
