It is with some sorrow and sadness that the (what was once a great tomato website) Tomatoland has finally thrown in the sponge and called it a day and closed it's doors for the last time. after several months of virtual inactivity it appears that it was no longer viable to keep it open.
The owner (Rob)- (one Hell of a nice chap) left the reasons for closing it down -well posted on the opening screen of Tomatoland web page, listing the details which rings very true and sharp pointed, and Rob goes on to say in his closing page that these same people that brought about the demise will go on and do exactly the same again in other areas-given the chance-in other words they cannot be trusted at all and are considered highly dangerous.
I personally deplore and am utterly disgusted by all those who let him down and helped to bring about this demise and they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
I also deplore all those who eventually deserted the website like rats on a sinking ship and migrated when things got tough instead of standing firm and offering their full support until things got better again.
I say all this because in the beginning Rob out of the goodness of his heart and at his own personal expense offered to make a new website for all those people that had either been very badly treated or been thrown off another well known website at the time, and took them under his wing so to speak and gave then a safe haven in which to be free from tyrants like they had previously experienced, and it saddens me to say that it is those very first few who joined his new website in the beginning that turned into Judas-stoolie's, and other lower forms of life and stabbed him in the back several times-quite regardless of the efforts and favours Rob had gone to- to save them and accommodate them initially when they had no where else to go.
But their memories are obviously very short.
I for one feel the deepest respect and admiration for the man and appreciated all his absolute fairness in everything throughout the history of his website, and wish him the best of luck in any new venture he might undertake in the future-well done Rob.
