Sorry if this has been asked before. I get the feeling it probably has. But, anyway... I'd like to know if there are any corn varieties out there that really excited you, whether because of awesome production, flavour, or good genetics.
Specifically for me, I'm hoping to find good hard Flint varieties that might be rare these days, but might be what i want. I prefer flint corns, bright color especially bright reds, large cobbs, sturdy stalks, etc..
If anyone knows of any that might interest me let me know. Also, I doubt black Aztec corn is a flint, but has anyone grown it? Did you like it, and was it productive?
If anyone else is looking for their favorite "type" of corn, feel free to hijack this thread with your own questions too.

Also, I doubt black Aztec corn is a flint, but has anyone grown it? Did you like it, and was it productive? I have grown three types of corn that claim to be "Black Aztec": 1- A gray colored sweet corn with gray cobs that tillers like crazy on 4' stalks. (gray dominant) 2- A gray sweet corn with medium sized cobs that tillers like crazy on 6' stalks. (gray not as prominent) 3- A very tall long season flour corn from Oaxacan with extremely soft endosperm that creeps along the ground. In my garden, productivity was very low compared to other corns. I didn't taste the first two. I really like the extremely soft texture of the one from Oaxacan. It is not well adapted to my garden, I presume due to day-length or Days-to-maturity issues. p.s. hmmmmm.... Maybe I should tall it a 3 foot tall corn growing on 12 foot long vines.

Well, nevermind about the red flints. I'll just use the stuff i have to eventually cross and select what I'm looking for.
But, I'm still looking for any varieties that consistently have red/pink colored silks. I'm hoping that this trait might not attract western corn rootworm beetles. Preferably from fat flint or Indian corn as opposed to sweet corn. Anyone else know of any natural ways to keep western corn rootworm beetles away?
