when I opened up the website this morning-everything was in Black, I though for one horrific moment that I had suddenly gone colour blind, but then it dawned on me -they had changed the colour ;D- what a relief-"phew"

Initially I thought this is some rendering error in my browser. Sadly it was not. This skin is awful. Black text+black links - do not like it at all. Tried the other available skins, they are even worse. Edit: Now it looks much better

That's interesting. I changed my skin to have a black background with lime green font and grid. Much easier for my eyes than black on white.

I had changed computers when the change happened here, but when I went back to my regular computer it still did not look the same, and this was not the only forum to change in that same day. good to know that I am not loosing my mind

All problems should be fixed now, black on white, blue links.
Any suggestions, I wanted something that stood out more, but the bright colors are almost too bright, this is not helped by the fact that there is no "preview" option in the admin settings.

I also originally thought it was a browser problem. I probably refreshed 5 times before i realized it was a theme change in progress. Alan, in some ways i do like it better than the old theme, but your right, it does almost look too bright. Perhaps a gray and white solution? Maybe a light green like mnjrutherford suggested. I'm not sure.

Folks always see things differently. In the "old" days, I always switched my settings to yellow script on blue for my word processor. Everyone else in the office complained about how hard it was to use my computer because of that. (Why they heck were they using MY computer to begin with??) Anyhow, I noticed that at the end of the day the blue/yellow had a significant effect on my mind as well as my eyes.
I'm using "homegrown 2" for my skin. If you want to give it a shot, the line of command is: Profile Modify Profile scroll almost to the bottom for Account Preferences 8th option on the list is "Skin". It's a drop down and you have 4 options as well as default.

Any suggestions, I wanted something that stood out more, but the bright colors are almost too bright, this is not helped by the fact that there is no "preview" option in the admin settings. The biggest problem now I see is that the background of the top 2 table rows is same. If you make them different will be nicer. Something like that (this is just example): Uploaded with ImageShack.usI do not now how looks your control panel and how you edit the themes, but in the css code the class of the second row is ".catbg" if that helps, thought I suppose proboards offers visual editor instead plain code only. Regarding the brightness the only think that is a bit too bright to my eyes are the bright blue links, but this could be just me.

I miss the old look of the forum. I tried all the options. I want the old option back. I have nothing written in black, it is white back ground and blue writing, or black with green. It is much more difficult to read this forum with green elves, and odd spacings. But, at least white is an option, much better than black! Is there a way to get rid of the elves on our screens? They detract from the messages.

Anyone who is still seing elves or the black and green motif:
Hold Ctrl R to refresh the page, if this doesn't work go to the profile button on the top rightish side of the tool bar, click on modify profile, scroll down to the section called skins, click on default, when done refresh the page.
The default setting is a white background with black text, dark blue links, light blue links after clicking on them, and green and black menu bars. It's a very clean and fresh look, for some reason (likely the cookies from this site) it does not update on everyones computer automatically.
Sorry for all of the issues, just trying to spruce things up a bit and I cannot "preview" the look of the board as there isn't a preview option, only the option to change colors, go back to the forum and look at it, and then in real time change it.

"Argh"- the opening screen this morning was a horrific garish green with swirls and unusual designs, I could hardly see the writing and words on it, but when I logged in it cleared to a more normal screen.

It's still there on my screen , the green overwhelms everything else and I can hardly read the words-I think some of the elves may have turned into Imps -LoL
