True that! Her gardening is self-empowerment, a danger to social stability.

Really Nuts? Are you serious? It's VERY rare to take that attitude. I'm almost finished reading the bible for the 3rd time in as many years. I've discovered that reading from beginning to end lends a very VERY different meaning that when one reads here and there. It's also why we worship at home. Dear Mrs Rutherford I'm allways serious,as maybe you remarked if you read some of my posts. ;D ;D Let's see what it say about growing food.l The sower (according to matteus, markus and lucas) Some of the grain fell on the side of the road and was eaten by the birds. Some fell on the stony soil,it germinated, but it was burned by the sun, because the roots didn't find any water. Some fell in the weeds,it germinated but was suffocated by the thistles. Some fell in the good soil and yielded hundred-thirty-sixty fold. I'm afraid that only reading doesn't do the whole trick, there is more about it. But anyway it's better than television and computergames ;D

So true! So very true!
I think ignorance is our real enemy. Ignorance of the bible, how many people honestly read it cover to cover and even if they do, how many actually comprehend what they have read? How many then actually read it over and over throughout their lives as God commands in the law? God says to read it over and over to guarantee understanding and to insure that in times of stress one doesn't accidentally make the wrong decision.
I think that this "law" of repetitious reading applies to other legal documents as well, the Constitution in particular. I have read it to my sons and I have made them copy it word for word. We need to read it again actually. But when I read it the first time, about 2 years ago, I recall being certain that its so called defenders in Washington D.C. could not possibly have read nor understood the document at all.

As true about the Constitution as it so often is about the Bible.

According to Julie's blog, the charges against her garden have been dismissed, though charges could be brought up again. Instead, Oak Park is going after her two dogs that were scofflaws when it comes to licensing.

Clearly, the Authorities want to hammer her for something. Also, clearly, she is not as careful as one may need to be when taking on a bureaucracy.
Whatever constituency she has brought to the garden issue needs to press the municipality to alter and clarify the garden regulations, so they can't be used for selective enforcement. This is happening around urban farming issues in many places, including here in Oakland, lately.

Yes, when ever you take on the gubermint, you best hide the still, send the 2nd and 3rd wife on vacation, send the unlicensed dogs with them, harvest the hooch, and take down the pirate cable. That's what we pay taxes for.

Pirate cable? Wouldn't that be theft? That's wrong. All the rest of those are just "la vida loca", aren't they?
