A brief intro -
Hello all,
First, my nickname. You do one cruel thing to a Yellow Jacket (not Ger) who has been trying to sting you and you get labeled for life as Pugsly Addams. Which shortens to Pugs.
I enjoy growing things, but I'm not a gardener; meaning there is no plan or structure to my yard or garden, much to my neighbors' dismay. A lot of things in pots, because I haven't figure out where I want to plant them yet. I've been asked if I own a plant nursery.
I have Energy Denial Disorder (EDD) and Space Denial Disorder (SDD) as well as wanting to do things perfectly, so nothing gets done because I'm far from perfect. I've also dealt with chronic fatigue syndrome (I can't spell its new name, but ME for short) for 25+ years now. This makes doing anything real fun.
I keep bees, have two Parson Russell Terriers (one is preggers). My cats left when neighbors moved in with their 14 cats.
Right now I'm listening to the soundtrack from the 4th year of Queer as Folk (American version). The best non-fiction book I've read in the last year is "A Perfect Mess; The hidden benefits of disorder. How crammed closets, cluttered offices and on-the-fly planning make the world a better place." by Eric Abrahamson and David H, Freedman. My favorite living author is Terry Pratchett. My favorite dead author is H. Beam Piper.
I'm a single male (almost 50), so if you know of any nice men you'd like to introduce me to, please don't hesitate. Oh, did I mention I'm queer? Let's keep it our little secret though, I'd hate to disillusion WU, if that is possible. But, please don't ask me for dance steps, musical trivia or fashion hints, since I can't dance, I hate must musicals and I have no fashion sense. But I can rewire a house, butcher a rabbit and pound a nail. I think I'm being voted out of the union.
Enough about me. I look forward to meeting all of you.

Pugs - I took an English class on the science fiction genre in college, and we read some of Piper's short stories. I'll have to see if I can remember any of them... mind like a sieve, dontcha know!
My husband actually threatened to get me that Perfect Mess book... I have mild OCD myself... constantly making lists, revising lists, scrubbing my hands, then re-revising the lists. But I do get a lot done that way. Disorder makes me nervous, unless it's out in my garden, where chaos generally reigns. In the house, the food in the pantry is all faced and date organized, and my closet is in color and style order (I can get dressed in the dark that way, in case it's ever necessary!)
Glad you're here! All the gay guys I know have been in relationships longer than I have, but I'll keep my eyes open. No raving Liza fans?... any other deal breakers?

Thanks for the welcome folks.
I realize I didn't say much about gardening. I'll do that in a follow up post.

As a fat, 40ish, straight woman who thinks gay porn is HOT, I say WELCOME and I like you already. I have a friend in Philadelphia, if you ever get to the East coast...

Welcome pugs. I must say I don't get the connection between torturing yellow jackets and your nickname...

Hi all,
Again, thanks for the warm welcome.
lavandulagirl -
Were the H. Beam Piper stories the Paratime ones, or the Space history type? Deal breakers, yeah, I wouldn't have a thing to say to a Liza fan. Another is smokers (sorry the smoke just burns my eyes up). I don't think I'd have anything in common with a man younger than 40, but if you find the rare hot young guy into older men, let me know! OCD - A Perfect Mess has some suggestions about that; pick your battle - a clean kitchen is a good thing, making sure your bed is made perfect, well try not to let it be a big deal.
plantsnobin -
Thanks for the offer. If I ever get out your way I'll take you up on it. And yeah, gay porn is hot, glad you think so! The older stuff tends to better in many ways than the new stuff. A straight friend had nightmares for a week from seeing Brokeback Mountain and I thought he was more secure in his masculinity than that; I hide the porn when he and his wife visit.
johno -
Well, my friend yelled at me that it was something Pugsly Addams would do. You know, from the TV show the Addams Family? Maybe before your time. How are you doing? I read you are having health issues. They sure bite, don't they?
Again thanks everyone.

Okay - I get it now. I forgot who Pugsly Addams was.
Yeah, they bite... but I'm hanging in there. I wonder what my usefulness may be at times, but I'm hangin' in there.

Late, but I'd like to add my welcome. I think slightly off kilter community is a very nice way to put it. Do you at least cook? Some of us are always looking for new ideas for dinner time!! I know a couple possibly eligible men, but they're up here in the cold white north of Canada, and now for some reason I have the Monty Python "I'm a lumber jack...." song running through my head!

Hi sammyqc,
Thanks for the welcome. Gee thanks, now I won't get that song out of my head for at least three days.
I do want to get to Toronto some day. And Vancouver is close. I'm just not cut out for all that snow so much of Canada has though. It is a really bad winter around here if it gets into the mid to low 20s. Maybe I'll get up there some summer.
Can I cook? Well, I can bake. I've got a batch of brownies in the oven now. Nothing special, a mix I souped up a bit. I added some white chocolate chips. I make sourdough bread on occasion. I've got a good recipe for easy artisan bread too. I make a great cream of mushroom soup (but it can't be used as a sauce, it is too thin), a good meatloaf and I've finally learned how to cook a rib-eye steak. I'm a carnivore at heart. I make a killer carrot cake (the only recipe I don't share).
I used to manage a Mrs. Fields cookie shop and I know the main tricks to getting the cookies like hers. The old ones, before the company sold out. Not the garbage they sell now. Oh, you like cheesecake? How about a pesto and sun dried tomato one? Or a Gorgonzola cheese one? They are great with crackers.
I make my own hot oils and flavored oils and use them for stir frys.
I don't think I mentioned I talk a lot. Sorry.
Tell my about you sammyqc. You are in Canada. Quebec (I make a guess from the qc part of your handle)?
