it's a balmy 27F here this morning, and i think i see some sun!
joseph, when we first moved here, in winter, we had paths everywhere...to the barn, to the shed, to the milkbarn, etc... the snow was really deep back then and if one of us stepped off the path, we'd sink a good four plus feet. i used to keep our dog Smokie by my side to help pull me out when i went off the path!

Woo hooo, working outside in a tshirt and shorts sweating in the sunshine ( shoveling and pushing wheelbarrows) February 7th in coastal British Columbia, Canada . We are clearly going to benefit temporarily from a global warming climate change.
I took pictures of my salad greens growing in my coldframes and my garden area I am preparing for spring planting , I managed to have some organic greens year round this year for my smoothies. I will try to upload picutres later tonight, not that they are that exciting but I am proud as I am pretty new at this and failed miserably last year . I have to head back out and do ten more wheelbarrow loads .

There's an old truism about Texas weather... If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes or go 10 miles down the road...
We're getting a little rain right now. It started Friday night, a hard shower for 5 minutes, tapering off to a long term drizzle. Saturday dawned grey & 'froggy'. Been that London fog type weather since. I'm not complaining, mind you. I'll take any moisture we are offered. With the coolish, foggy conditions we won't have evaporation issues, so maybe we'll come close to our normal annual rainfall totals this coming year. One can hope for the best, right?

Just been for a bracing walk with the dogs through the forest in pouring rain, temperature around 7C. This time last year we had had no rain for months and everything was bone dry; this year the river is overflowing its banks, the lake is full (the dam is next to our property), and the garden is saturated. We haven't seen so much water in the ten years we have been here. At least my tree plantings in the area where nothing has grown will get a chance to get rooted well in, but the vegetable garden which is on heavy clay is unworkable at the moment. I hope a warm spring will give us a chance to get an early start as the weeds are taking over.

"The Devil is beating his wife". It's bright, sunny & raining. That is what we said as kids. Thanks for the memory. Take the rain and be thankful any way that you can get it. Then send it north a few miles to us.

No rain predicted the coming week; not so good for the farm, as the winds are dry, so the soil isn't very conducive to sprouting the seeds I've planted the past month; what was planted in December is doing fine, as their roots are down in adequate moisture. Worrying, since it's looking like I may be wanting to start putting out Summer stuff the end of April, but if things don't sprout soon, they won't be done. TWBDWIIC.

Cold and cloudy in Oakland, today; rain predicted tonight and thundershowers tomorrow. If so, I won't be able to work, but I'd rather have the rain; we're nearly 3" below normal to date; so strange after that heavy start to the rainy season. Here in the SF Bay Area, we normally have a four-to-six week break in our rainy season, but this year was the third-driest January on record and February hasn't done much, either.
