These are really pretty peppers, Igot the seeds from Cortona, but messed up the names. They are very dwarfish or small bush, ideal for small containers to take in the house in winter. Here they are in 14 cm diam containers. The peppers are rather hot. Do they have a name?(Cortona?)

I did have seed of 'Bolivian rainbow peppers', don't remember from where and maybe that's better for them, that should've become something like this, but the seeds didn't come up and the one single plant that did is some kind of longer chili pepper that has (as far as I know) only 2 colors: pale yellow and then red. I suppose they're very hot though and useful, and they're quite dwarfish and not ugly, but this one is much cooler. I hope to find seeds to grow this one next year...
There is also a 'chinese 5 color pepper' that looks similar, and I think even more different names for quite similar small hot peppers with all those color changes...

they work well for dried peppers. one or two dried red ones in a pot of soup heats it up considerably.

I've always been put off by the concept "decorative peppers", assuming it means "not to be eaten". This would seem to indicate that a pepper is a pepper; good news, if so.

I've always heard that the decorative ones are exceedingly hot, but there are exceptions. I'm hoping to find seeds of "Sweet Pickle" for next year; it's a sweet version with similar color, though not as much purple. I think "decorative peppers" are like these "decorative gourds" from Kroger last year: Perfectly edible, just not generally used as such by the bourgeoisie, because they don't LOOK like traditional, mass marketed food. Much like non-red tomatoes, non-white/yellow corn, etc. MB

Wow, I love those pumpkins. Those orange ones full of warts, are those 'Galeux 0d'Eysinnes'? (A very interesting French heirloom that I want to try once)
As for thosee 5-color type peppers, they are supposed to be both edible hot peppers and very decorative, as a houseplant even. If my seed source would have been reliable I would have been able to show pictures and tell you about the taste, but alas... From more than 20 seeds I got one plant with completely different peppers.
(I don't use that much hot peppers anyway, and I still do have quite a bag of dried very hot small red pil-pili peppers (with viable seed in them) that a family member brought from Thailand. But it's still a pity because I find this a beautiful variety)

That looks like the ornamental variety "Aurora". I've been thinking of growing that one in the pots flanking my driveway, it is really eye-catching.
