I've no idea what it is, but there is something popped up where I've mulched with bunny-bedding; not oats nor timothy, but very healthy, un-awned, four-rowed.
How would I tell wheat from barley, or whatever?

Hi Steve
Triticum sp has solitary spikelets Hordeum sp has spikelets assembled by three at the same node
Hoping that helps

Forgot to check that stuff out this past week-end; must do that, as it looks very productive, large seeds; wouldn't do to plant out in the open, though; not "beardy", so no awns to deter foraging critters.

Took a look at that stuff; by those measures, it's a wheat, but not one I'd want to grow; it's horribly-hulled and must need serious machinery to thresh; not gonna be able to pop those berries out with a thumb-nail.
