Wouldn't surprise me. His farm has great rocks. No, I kept up a personal correspondence with him and I've just had no answers, not even from snail mail for a couple of years. (Not since April 2011). I even reached out to some of the folks he did work with at NOFA and could not get any answers. Like Joseph, that last year, I wish I'd have bought everything. If you hear anything from Ken, let us know.

Funny you should ask...indeed, Ken wrote me a very kind note this morning. He apologized and said he has no seed available for anyone anymore. Then he mentioned that, actually, he had been working with a group of local farmers, and they may have melon seed available this winter. We'll see.

The melon harvest is slowing down and will stop very soon. The fruiting crops are acting weird.

littleminnie, how is the flavor on those yellow midget watermelons? I bought seeds for next year but all the reviews I read on them say they are not worth growing. They are attractive to me however as they appear to be a much earlier variety than most. Fruit crops are acting very weird this year here too. Bloom times on euro vs Asian plums and pie vs sweet cherries were way out of wack. Later grape varieties are ripening now while early varieties are just starting to change color.

Thanks, but no; whole different melon; useful and interesting, but not the same thing.
I'm not enjoying this "getting old" thing so much.

Nice harvest of melons Jon. I will probably only get two watermelon this year. This was most likely due to late planting since earliest tries were eaten by slugs. The melons that did make it pass the seedling stage got taken over by clover and sweet potatoes plus also disease.
