This is my first year growing flour corn, which was Cherokee White Flour Corn. I would love to landrace flour corn next year, and was hoping to begin by riding on someone's else's already started project or to obtain some unique seeds from others on the board. If you have either of these, please either PM me or reply to this thread. Thanks!

It is a cross between "North American Hybrid Swarm" and "South American Synthetic Composite". The tentative working name is "Civil War Corn" because it's a clash between North and South... I haven't released it yet, so I'd take suggestions for other names. It is a flour/flint/dent corn with as much diversity as I could get into it and still be able to harvest seed in my garden. The South American ancestors brought colors, and kernel shapes, and cob configurations that are not typically seen in North American corns. I haven't done much work with flour corns, because my culture doesn't eat much cornmeal. Just about all of the flour corns that I have grown got marketed as decorations. I am using this corn as a stepping stone to my real goal which is bringing South American corn genetics into my sweet corn. I made that cross this summer. I expect to harvest the seed in a few weeks. But then it's two more growing seasons before I know what it's like.

Joseph, I was planning on getting some more Landrace Popcorn seed from you this year anyhow. If it works for you, I'll send you a silver dime for the Landrace Popcorn and a silver dime for code name Civil War Corn. I can either go ahead and send payment now, and then let you mail when you have the seeds ready, or I can wait until later in the year when you have the seeds ready to send the money.

I prefer waiting. Less easy to lose things.

Sounds more like reunification!

Joseph: "Civil War Corn"? So Northern of you! "War Between the States Corn" would be Southern; I suppose it's telling that there still is no really neutral term; it's only been 150-some years. Why are we so perplexed by grudges in the Middle East?

steev: "War of Northern Aggression Corn" seems like a mouthful. Perhaps WONA would work. I'm currently leaning towards Reconciliation, Harmony, Detente, or Amity.

Aineo, PM your address. If you are not out of the states, I'll send you everything I've got flour corn wise. You may have to do your own breeding. Just so you know, I aint never tasted a better flour corn. Yet, I'm still working on anything that might be less days. Dar has totally spoilt me for a better, more flavorful corn. Will this drought ever end? Joseph, no Amity...reminds me of Whore films or his that Horror films? Harmony is nice. Note to Self: No corn sent out of the states makes it through the Nazi Corn Bureaucrazy Customs...No, don't ask me. It can't be done. Maybe for a name: Civil Wars. We all know there's been too many of them. Also they have some cool songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfzRlcnq_c0

Joseph; so conciliatory; we really ought to get beyond this "Civil War" crap.
At some point, we really need to deal with each other as people.
