Hi
Well, it turns out that two of my unknown seeds from this year turned out to be finger millet (Eleusine coracana). So any info would be of use. Specifically does anyone know if the heads shatter at ripeness. I'd hate to lose all the seed because I wasn't expecting it to all fall out.

Domestic finger millet doesn't shatter more than most grains. If you have the wild type, bag them. But I doubt they are the wild type. I'm sure you would know them if they were a common weed in your area. And if they are a new weed, you'll be an expert on them soon enough. Domestic finger millet aren't ugly. They could be stored for winter as dried flower arrangements. Wild finger millet doesn't even have a nice personality.
