an old digital reflex coupled with a 50mm macro lens. That's a great pleasure to take pics of nature with a macro.

I noticed F2Mirai corns have a short (2-3days) difference between the flowering times of the staminate flowers and the pistillate flowers. On the other hand an hybrid (flint colombian x black mexican) shows a long gap so the shedding of pollen is ended when the silks rise.
In the patch of F2Mirai I plan to detassel between 80-100 plants for seed saving to prevent selfing and so reduce the inbreeding depression. What do you think about this?

A pic of three immature fruits of the F2PJBxGE plants. The smallest fruit has a green peduncle that's a rare trait in this F2 progeny. Attachments:

There's actually one thing I would like to grow heaps of varieties (well actually more but then I can't save the seeds) that is beans. I don't grow heaps of cultivars but I sow at least two varieties of beans every years. My beans are grown very close ones of the other ones. I save seeds since five years and I have never had cross between the various lines. I think that depends of the insects present in your country.

I have also noticed that in my attempt to obtain a warted banana squash. Galeux d'Eysines (pollen donor in my hybrid) shows a highly branched vine and Pink jumbo Banana has a main vine with (1-)2(-3) small branchs. In my records, I simply mention viny or very viny. In the F2 progeny the very viny trait is rare.

I'm hungry when I see all those corns. Lucky guys ;-)
My corns are late this year because of the fresh highs and the cloudy sky. So I wait for my first sweet corns in the beginning of august
My second patch begins to blossom in which Mirai F2 and Double red will be crossed. Yesterday I detasseled the Double Red. And it will probably be possible to make the cross Joseph's red corn x MiraiF2 (Joseph's corn is late because sowed one week later).

Asimina takes graft easily so graft the earliest that's the best. After 2 growing seasons your plants will be ready for the grafting.
Don't make my error. Now my pawpaw is shrub and the grafting is not easy.

Change the habits, takes time
and the tomatoes are an example of this. It takes nearly 200 years before the occidental taste accepts this new vegetable... and now that's one of the most grown.
the fruit of actinidia is an another example. During its introduction in Europe, it was regarded as a powerful allergen...

Very impressive pics Ottawagardener
In western europe we never experience extreme drought. In my country 15 days without rain is already a rare phenomenon.
Hoping a good rain for you and more sun for me

My peas are done. Total harvest 4,2 kg of cleaned peas on 5 square meters. I have already saved "dried" peas for seeds but with the rains (90 liters/square meters in 10 days) a large part of seeds germinate in the pods.
After the peas, I sow Valerianella a very popular green in Europe.
