Damn...I'm behind on this one...
They aren't seedlings anymore, but I'll try to get some pic's of them tomorrow. Essecentially...They look like tiny one prong ginseng....
I'm not sure what I was doing when this thread was posted, but chances are the pic's never got taken because we were busy getting stuff in the ground. Not much hiking gets done when we're in the middle of planting season. 'Specially during a drought.

Hehehe...Thats funny...
Sounds like a similar story that my Dad likes to tell about my uncle feeding him ramps...My Mom was NOT happy with my uncle that night. And from the way they tell that story I wouldn't go near my Dad for a couple of days, cause apparently he stunk.

I found this article on it... 2bnthewild.com/plants/H46.htmIts a beautiful plant, I can't say as I've ever seen them around here. On wikipedia it said to be careful with it because it can be poisonous. ***I was talking to Alan just a second ago, and he said that medicinally this root is used when one thinks they might have an intestinal parasite. As it causes violent emptying of the intestines.*** Just thought I'd throw that one in there.

In early sept. Alan and I went to Eastern TN with my family to visit some of my other family down there. My Dad and Uncle took Alan and I to some historical sites in the area. Alan hunted ginseng from the car and did find some...But we couldn't dig it. Considering its a federal offense and all to dig it in one state and sell it in another.

Today is my Mom's birthday, and my siblings and I bought her an outfit, and two lavender plants. (they were really affordable at 2.98 a pot). I love lavender and my Mom started growing it after I told her that in some of the earth bound religions of ancient times they planted lavender for luck. Its also supposed to be a very strong protection herb. Plus...You can't beat that smell...lol.

we had some volunteer daylillies come up a few years ago...My father dug them up and transplanted them in a bed of lillies that I had planted, they come up every year now, with out fail.
I have some really beautiful pictures of my Dad's Iris' that my sister took. They are amazing. They're the great big purple and yellow bearded iris'.
I also love the Rose of Sharon tree/bush, the one that I have my dad and I started from seed when I was in the third grade, when we moved to where we live now he made sure to dig it up from my grandma's yard and bring it with him. when Alan and I move in together, I will start one from a seed and start saving seeds from it as well.
