Thanks for thinking of me Johno, but FP's correct. I have a friend who is a member of SofD as well as SeedSaversExchange, so I am familiar with the organization although I am not a member as yet.

Just curious. Any members here who are actually card carrying members of Seeds of Diversity? Val? Mikey? Telsing? Penny? Alberta Gardener? And if so, are you active about offering seeds to the membership or just a member on 'principle' that it's a good organization to belong to?

I just become one this year but I haven't offered seeds yet. I was on Seeds of Diversity - the Canadian organization before.

When i checked it out, it said that if i wanted to join, it had to be by the end of January, in order to participate in any swaps, and i missed the deadline, but its on my list to join for next season.

Penny, Val, It's my understanding that Seeds of Diversity Does Not Swap seeds? I guess the correct way to say it would be that they prefer other forms of barter such as SASE, Stamps, Cdn Tire money, as well as Cash or Cheque to obtain seeds offered in the membership catalogue.
I'm attending a Seedy Saturday on Valentine's Day and I was told by the Organizer of the local Seedy that it was Open to anyone who wished to attend. Many of them charge admission to help pay for the Speakers or the hall rental.
Check the website and get in touch with the contact person for your local group. You might be surprised.

I just joined up for the first time this year as well and I'm patiently (okay, no so patiently, I check the mail box EVERY DAY hoping for my first shipment from SoD) for the exchange catalogue and first winter issue.
Since I wasn't a member last year I didn't get to offer any seeds, but I'm definitely looking forward to offering seeds next year through the exchange.
I didn't join up just for the exchange though, it's a great organization on principle, and $30 to join isn't too outlandish (especially because you get three issues of their magazine plus the exchange directory). I'm also helping out with Pollination Canada, another little project the SoD people run, AND I'm going to two Seedy Saturdays on Feb 28th and March 1st (one in my town, one in the little community next door over).

I am going to join as well, regardless of missing a swap or not, and i agree, its a great site Kelly. There is a Seedy Saturday in Toronto coming up (closest to me), that if i can attend, i will be going.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that Canadamike when I get my exchange directory . I got my official welcome notice letter yesterday in the mail, now I'm waiting on baited breath for my first issue and the exchange catalogue to arrive .
