I'm mad about dry and shelly beans so I can't say that I have a favourite. This year I grew Macedonian White which has large, flat, white seeds. It was delicious. The beans swell to the size of a good lima and cook up really well when young. Didn't grow enough to keep through winter but ceratinly enough to have a good crop next season.
Others I like are, in bush beans, Anasazi, Pinto (I grew these from seed I got in a health food store) and Diggers Red Kidney and in pole, Pistou, Phénomène and Cave Bean. Next season I want to try Mrocumiere (bush) and Roccos Regina (pole).

I was going to offer to send you some, including one I'll get next week or so, a bean with a mushroom taste, coming with the recipe...but beans are off limits to you. Is there a procedure that make it possible? Or I could send it to a friend of yours...Why are beans off limits in Australia anyway? I am sure there is a reason, but what is it?

All legumes are difficult for individuals to import into Australia. Way too much trouble and far too expensive.
