Check this guy out, I'm going to invite him to come join us in our little community, he seems open minded and has a lot of similar interest just as us! www.lusthof.org/

Go for it alan..
I talked with him via email several months ago.. and we were supposed to be doing a seed trade. Then i didn't hear from him again.. don't know what happened.. either i got to busy or he did, or we just both got tired of dealing thru emails... so i hope you can get him to join. It sure makes things alot easier when we have this PM system to use.
He does seem to be a very serious collector and breeder of all kinds of seeds. Lots of other kinds of plants too. And i've heard others who i trade with in the Netherlands talk highly of him.
So, it'd be interesting for sure if you can get him to join us.

Ok guys, I've joined your ranks. All I need is some more time to garden the virtual way, too.

He has to learn to garden virtually...we are safe, he can't be Zebraman!!! Lieven, what kind of germination can we expect from raspberry seed? Is it better to put them fresh in the ground, or do we have to stratify them? I would tend to vote for stratification, but I don't know for sure. I am growing seeds of FALL GOLD mother, and I am considering a patch of bee pollinised berries started from seeds. Other than for possible new croses, can I expect decent results from my seed grown new plants?
If I only had 2 cultivars, do I have to expect a high degree of variability? Will the ''wild'' genes express themselves fast in next generations?
Is red dominant? Or black, or yellow or...... please feed us in inf. I suspect black and red to be pretty dominant, and yellow recessive...

Thanks for joining Lieven, looking forward to working with you in the future. Ken Ettlinger sent me some of your broccoli mass cross which I have added indeed to his other two mass crosses and some other varieties I have collected, I can say with 100% certainty that whatever comes of these crosses that nothing this diverse has ever been created in Broccoli diversity.
Please ignore that the board is a bit inactive at the moment, everyone, just like yourself, is just away planting, weeding, and harvesting at the moment, the fall/winter/spring are when things really pick up here, particularly exchange of seasonal knowledge and seeds.
Hope to work with you soon friend!

Iwould like to point out to a certain gentleman from Indiana that the "harvesting" bit in his post is a bit crual for us up here, especially after 23 days of rain in June...
Nobody needs to make us remember that we don't live in the south ;D
