Hey guys, you may have noticed that some folks now have Global Moderator next to their names and some of you that are Global Moderators have probably just realized that you have become so. I just wanted to take the time to explain quickly, more or less I created this group because in the spring time in particular I get so busy I don't have a lot of time to maintain and clean up the site to keep it running efficently and to keep the conversations and information flowing and I really needed a helping hand, so I selected a few folks to give me a hand where they can and gave them the basic powers just to keep the site running more cleanly. No one will still have the power to edit or delete threads or to ban anyone and as always this will remain an open forum and a great community. I also stuck Hip-Gnosis Seed Development Staff in the subject line of your avatar, well, mostly because it looked cool, and also because several of you are helping in the development of varieties that we are distributing and I hope you will become focal points of expanding what we are working on. In closing, don't feel like you have to be a global mod if you aren't interested in doing so, just let me know. If your not a mod please don't feel like you've been left out, because I don't want anyone to feel that at all, If there were five of me I could run everything myself, but alas, it doesn't work that way. Don't worry, nothing on this site will change, oh, and as always I still yeild the "penultimate power" on the forum. LOL Love all of you on this board, Your Friend, Alan R. Bishop

I had noticed that, but didn't realize I was in the group. All I can say is, 'I'm not worthy!'. Guess now would not be the time to admit that I don't like broccoli. Or cauliflower. Or cucumbers. Karen

Hey Alan, where is the ''Kiss Alan's ass'' button for the globals?? ;D If we push the buttons, do we wreak havoc? I guess I should try tonight. If you come back tomorrow and this forum is transformed and looks like Idig, blame Alan We had a O minutes, 0 seconds course. Perfect for my attention span ;D What can I do to Sammy?.....

Thanks, I think ;D. This was quite a surprise. I was keeping an eye on/ helping some workmen here this morning, and when I had to sit down for a while, I popped in and saw this! But I had to get back to the task at hand for the rest of the day. Which, of course, gave me all day to reflect on mistakes and successes of moderators around the Internet gardening community. I hope I am able to help, but thankfully it's not often required in this group. Now, to visit the moderator control panel and find out my secret powers (wringing hands with evil grin )

I hope you remembered to include WU as a global moderator.

I have to admit that yesterday, after WU's post, I thought, 'I could make him go away now'. I guess I can see how power can go to one's head. Perhaps explains the Bush administration?

Congrats Buddy...I guess, given your actual situation, you should be put in charge of......reproduction ;D ;D ;D Clarckbar, ''the lets make more 'lil gardeners '' coordinator, many guys would like your job More seriously, most of us have older children now, and I envy you. These coming years will be marvelous, although your sex life will go down the drain at times . I don't know if you feel like I did, but for many months following the birth of my son, what I felt for my wife, the tenderness, the gratitude, the love, it was amazing and even physical, I could sense these feelings in my body when I laid my eyes on her. I felt so blessed, soooo in love and grateful, so full of the beauty of life.... If it happens to you, reflect on it, cherish it, cause the day to day life will regain its territory, but for a while, your an emperor sitting on a mountain of gold... Michel

Michel, I have the reproduction knowledge and experience thats for sure... I can be in charge of the "breed 'em and feed 'em" campaign. I do understand what you're saying about feelings for the wife. It's a powerful experience. Jim

Recently Mike and I have been discussing the status of global moderators, I hope everyone feels comftorable with their position on the board and that they will all choose to login every few days just to see how folks are doing. I'm very happy that very few of us have ever had to use our mod powers and I hope it continues on that way, I am adding one more GM, Grungy, if she accepts, as I trust her and think she would do a great job, she also helped this year during our lean time of posting (summer) to keep this place up and going, I also recently gave canadamike a few extra powers since he is always around when I may go for a few days without checking in. I want to thank everyone here for helping me, it is greatly appreciated, I think we have the very best forum around and I hope we can continue to ignore our powers because that really says something about our forum being open and loving.
-Thanks again guys! -Alan

Congratulation my dear, now you have to pay us a beer! ;D I am sure everybody will feel this forum has just been enriched even more. It's nice to see somebody so generous and giving being recognized. What you and Dan are doing for everybody is just plain amazing and I feel blessed to have had the chance to know you. Michel
