I may be going a different way with business, and am considering online sales of butterfly host plants. Of course, I don't know anything about computer stuff. I want to take Paypal since you don't have to deal with customer credit card info that way. They have reasonably priced options, but you already need to have a website, and a compatible shopping cart. Prostores is an ebay company, but apparently not compatible with Paypal, which makes no sense to me. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Any info is greatly appreciated. Karen

Some online places will have a shopping cart set-up if you set up and account with them.
You might try setting up a store on Ebay, probably get the most business that way. I don't know what your feelings on Ebay are. Some people are really opposed to it.....
I'm fairly computer savvy, let me know if I can help.

I agree. I looked into eBay a few times and it seems very easy to set up a store with them. They have tutorials and all sorts of stuff to help you.
Other places, like Yahoo, offer stores for very little money and are also complete with shopping carts, etc to make it easy.

I'm going to bump this thread up, some interesting ideas and potential came up with Karen and I talking the other day, E-bay is ok, but to some extent is seems to in some peoples eyes take away from the legitimacy of a serious business as opposed to having a professional web-site with a true shoping cart, then again I'm not a big fan of pay-pal, so any other options out there?

Alan, I forgot to mention something the other day. Check out Munchkinnursery.com That is Gene Bush's site, the guy in Milltown. He redid his site last year, wasn't happy with the guy who was doing his site before. Said it took too long for them to update with the sold-outs and such. The new company is relatively local. I have seen a few mistakes, but that may have been Gene more than the company. He was pretty happy with them overall. I think that maybe the way JL Hudson company does it may be a good solution too. E-mail them your order, pay through paypal. With all the problems of internet and credit card security, I think that a small company is better off with a paypal system, since you don't have the responsibility of dealing with credit card numbers. That is a huge liability. Remember what happened at Johnny's -they lost business that they can never regain. I think better to eliminate that possibility from the beginning. I agree about the cheesiness of an ebay store. Just doesn't seem quite right.
