The perennial brassicas are of great interest. Is Chou Daubentan a true perennial?

Chou Daubenton is a true perennial, the leaves are harvested during springtime, and, very occasionally, during a very mild winter. It withstands a bit more frost than Ehwiger Kohl, but it's just a matter of some degrees. Chou Daubenton is a bit more widespread, certainly in France, but I like the taste of Ehwiger Kohl more: it's a little tastier , more tender than Daubenton. Both are fast and easy growers though, and make a worthwile addition to (mostly) spring and summer harvests, Frank

I ordered many brassicas from Gatersleben and GRIN ( Ames), we will see. I have received nothing yet fron Germany, but asked for 199 accessions. Frank, do they have a limit on what they ship, I might have been perceived a bit greedy... If I ever receive them, you tell me if they are good for you or for a goat, if ever there is a noticeable difference that you can perceive, my vegetarian weird stuff eating friend ;D ;D ;D ;D P.S.: Frank, slips leaving this week-end, maybe tomorrow, but probably monday, I have noticed that up to now it seems the best day for fast delivery...

Michel, I don't know if there's a limit for ordering things from Gatersleben. I try to keep it modest, 25-30 packets each time, are you sure you didn' exagerate a little bit??I get my stuff within three to four days, but Germany isn't that far and has a good post organisation. I hope the sweet potatoes will arrive this time ;D Frank

Michael.. i've requested from them before. They are usually very quick to send out the orders. I had to wait for my last one this year because they were packing up seeds for the Nordic seedbank when it opened. But they should be all done with that now. They do give a good amount of seeds in their packets though... alot more than Grin does. As far as 199 accessions.. i think you're right about where the cut off is.. i think you can get 200 with no problems. Anything they have questions about they'll email ya. Not that they won't approve em.. they'll just want to check with ya first. If they haven't emailed you yet.. then i would figure that your request is on it's way. If you ever get any seeds saved from those black carrots, i'd be interested in trading ya something for em. Course that'll be a while for that. So, maybe next year i'll try and find some that i can request if you like yours this year. I just don't want to put in more requests now till i send em back the reports i promised from this year. They are especially interested in disease resistances if you didn't already know. I think they got alot of good info there for reseaching too... if ya like reading. Dave

If so, you do not give them extra brassicas. Makes them very gassy and bloated. If you do, make sure to have lots of sodium bicarb (baking soda) around. Goats would rather munch on some nice carrots or winter squash.
