*knocks over soap box* with scooter Now I'm prepared to accept the fact that I may be in fact out dated and senile.
I will however go to my grave insisting that the old guys who first got me started gardening beleived that there was a six or seven year rotation for when you planted a crop inna feild and let it rest.
If I've gone daffy and I have been told such ona another garden site, then nobody will have any idea of what I'm blathering about.
New feild year:
1. Potatoes 2 corn and or tomatoes 3 cole crops 4 root crops (onion carrot ect)
Frankly I disremember the rest. And year 2 and 3 could be bacwards too.

Well crop rotation has always been a problem for me as tomatoes were taking such a huge part of the garden, and potatoes too. Since I am in clay, I amend like crazy, I just got 7 truckloads of mushroom compost delivered...
Dealing with clay is enough of a headache, I don't want to become too much anal about perfect crop rotation. So I decided to solve this conumdrum the canadian way: I leave the friggin crops there and I rotate myself ;D
