They glare at me and ask (while standing IN the carrot patch) "where's the food"?
Its difficult to adaquately frame an answer.

At least it's not a polecat. This one belong to you? It's been hanging around outside the casement window in my basement office the past few years ... He is undeterred by the "WARNING - 24 Hour Security Monitoring" sticker ...

When I worked at Howe Caverns, there was a big skunk problem because of all the garbage cans. One night I am leaving at like 930 and walking to my car. I see a white cat in the parking lot. Not unusual, there were barn cats around. Until I get closer and see its an albino skunk. The fluffy tail was a dead giveaway. It was a female and had some albino babies. I had heard it was around, but didnt believe it till I saw it myself.

Last night there was a cat-versus-skunk fight near our well-house. The cat lost.

Did you know skunks can only see about 18" in front of their noses. You sure about that HHF.. last year i had a couple of skunks that used to come out around dusk and hang around the bird feeders. Which my path thru the woods to the garden just happens to go between the two feeders. Every time i used to come back from the garden after around 8pm or so i'd have to be on the lookout cause they'd start running at me whenever i got within 30 ft or so of em. Then they'd turn around backwards and get ready to shoot if i didn't find a tree to hide behind real quick. If they're really that nearsighted then they must have some really good radar.. cause i was always on the lookout for em after the first time they attacked. That one got me by surprise.. but after that i walked really quietly and made a wide circle around em if i could spot them first. Fortunately they never got me, but they did spray in the garage a couple times last year.. musta got into it with the raccoons or possums or even the cats that always get in there at nite. I can only guess that whatever it was got the losing end of it.. darn that stinks.

They can hear and smell really well. I've had them walk between my feet when I was out looking for them.
