...............This is a northern melon with lots of guts, and my friend bell4562 is as impressed as I am. One of its parents, Prescott, a true cantaloupe, is also very healthy and robust. The melon almost disappeared a century ago and has been revived by the society. Later in the year I will translate its history, and I intend to distribute it as much as I can. It sure would be nice if I got help from the people here......... hey mike, wonderful pics of the melon and squash and all! i would be honored to help you with this melon. looks like a winner to me! what type of Basil was the pics of with the huge leaves and the Bic on it? really awesome!

Not basil Bunkie, BASAL, as in basal leaves the kind of crown of first leaves, the ones at the base of the plants, the first ones to grow.... I might use the expression incorrectly, please correct me if I am wrong, it is usually said of the crown of leaves in the beginning of a cycle of biennials or perennials, they tend to be different from the rest of the plant. Seeds wil go your way with pleasure in the fall... On the Lunéville front, it is producing fruits now, ahead of some still at the male leafs stage or mostly... friggin toughy. Don't forget this later planted baby was eaten alive by cucumber beatles, it had the hell of a pityful look, not one leaf intact or even sizeable for that matter...

I'm new here so don't know if it is appropriate to even ask yet. But this fall, once your harvest is done, would it be possible to get a few of the Luneville's melon seed?

Here are a couple of pictures of some of the melons. Lunéville's is the most abundant and has the biggest fruits, again planted 3 weeks later. 3 of the 6 fruits: His parent, Prescott: Altai, a melon for the canadian north, no reputation for flavor here, as opposed to Lunéville, but nevertheless smaller and less numerous Frieland Mischerino, from the German seedbank, originaly from Germany, a close second in size, but less fruits: Manitoba, the name says it all. I have many numbered accessions from the canadian prairies I will trial next year. Help is needed and asked for, free melon seeds! ;D Unnamed, quite probably SMALL FRUITED ( I have others) this plant replaced another one that died in the first week, I picked it in the compost pile to replace the dead one

It would also be neat if I sent you the melon accessions I have from other mountainous areas in Iran, Afghanistan, Caucasus and all.

We have had 2 days of sun in the last 3 days and it had an impact on the melons growth, many are sizing up pretty fast, even with nights in the 7-10 celsius, roughly 44-48 farhenheight.
The biggest Lunéville melon is now changing color too, a good sign.
