The tendril/leaf close to the melon dries up. And in the case of our friend, there is a color change... Michel said th etaste was divine, I can hardly wait. Mine have exploded in size, we had 3 days of mostly sun, and apparently the whole week ahead will be like that. At last!! We are having some summer...
Here is a resumé of my notes taken on Aug 22 in the melonnière:
VS : VERY SMALL- should not make it to fruit
S : SMALL - 3/4 of a pound, if we have some good weather, some chance
M : MEDIUM - around 1 pound. Fair chances if cold does not show up to fast
L : LARGE - evidently well over a pound- BEST CHANCES OF ALL

The melons in the other patch did not perform, it was such a bad spot with no air circulation and not enough sun the melons can't be qualified, I will retry them.

These melons have been hit by downy mildew.
The watermelons are faring a bit better, but I got eaten alive by moskitoes while preparing to count, I ran to my car. We did not see much of them this summer, usually wet is good for them but not that wet and cold, now it is warmer than in July, with less rain, so they are out with a vengeance. I don't know why, we have plenty of cedars, their usual spot, but they hang around the bean patch. You sometimes can't open your mouth and have to breathe through the nose
Well, how is your melon season doing, people?
