There is a small squash plant growing at the edge of the leaf cover my big cross, I saw it yesterday. The plant is small, the other is kind of taking over, so I will curtail it. The pattern is interesting, and I never saw one like it. I wonder if any of you has seen such a color pattern on an edible pepo before. The mother is Sweet Dumpling for sure, the father is probably a yellow zucchini, as I don't recall having any other pepo than that and Thelma Sanders, but the big cross is definitely Thelma-ish, and it sure looks like a probable yellow zuc cross, but then again bees travel.....

No, it looks like a yellow summer squash could be the daddy. So are you going to pick it small or let it get big?

It will go to seeds my dear. Although the zukes harvest is far from proverbial as usual, I have enough plants to fill my needs and the restaurant's. This one will become an segregation toy!!
I am thinking of sending both squash hybrid's seeds to France so they could be grown this winter in the Lunéville greenhouse...

Zephyr F1 is a zucchini with exactly that bicolor pattern. Perfectly edible, of course.
